          Before noon, after 5 hours of incessant fire, the German infantry rushes to storm Powiśle.
          The German troops are advancing along three parallel streets: Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie (Kościuszko Coast), Dobra and Browarna Streets into the insurgent positions.

          The Municipal Power Station, destroyed in wave bombings and by artillery fire, ceases to produce electricity. As a result of lack of power, hydrophores stop working, weapon production is halted, printing houses do not function.

          In another attack, the Germans capture the building of the Waterworks Directorate on Lipowa Street.

          The bombardment takes a heavy toll on Śródmieście. Among other destructions, the building at 12 Szpitalna Street, the seat of the printing house issuing "Information Newsletter" and other journals, is razed to the ground. Several printer workers lose their lives in the attack.
          "Victoria" hotel on Jasna Street, the seat of the staff of Colonel Antoni Chruściel "Monter" ("Assembler"), is also destroyed. The staff moves to Złota Street.

          Nearly 100 people, including 10 members of the staff of Region IV, Subdistrict I of Śródmieście, are killed in the bombardment of the building at 4 Szpitalna Street.
          Successive bombardments of the Postal Saving Bank on Jasna Street - the seat of the Home Army Main Headquarters. There are killed and injured.

          The Germans launch an attack after an attack on the barricades of the North Śródmieście, in the area of Czackiego, Traugutta, Kredytowa and Mazowiecka Streets. All the attacks are repelled.

          In the evening a fierce fight breaks out over the burning St. Lazarus Hospital on Książęca Street near Trzech Krzyży (Three Crosses) Square.

          On the night of 4 and 5 September, the "Radosław" group regroups in High Mokotów. The soldiers of the "Zośka" battalion led by Lieutenant Andrzej Romocki "Morro" man the printing house of Michał Arct's publishing company at 225 Czerniakowska Street.

          German tanks destroy the gravestone of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Piłsudski Square.





          The Red Army captures Wyszków.

          For the sake of unpredictable results of the execution of Fighting Warsaw, Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Great Britain, urges the USSR Minister of Foreign Affair Vyacheslav Molotov to reconsider the negative decision of the USSR authorities regarding the permission for American and British planes to land on Soviet airports and refusal to provide help to the insurgents by Soviet soldiers.
