2 Marek Edelman street - Muranów

A huge mural painting is to be found on a side wall of the 32nd Primary School named after the Little Insurgent, in 2 Marek Edelman (formerly 2 Józef Lewartowski) street in the Muranów district.
The work shows a young boy wearing a helmet, a white and red armband with the sign of Poland Fighting and a bag of the Scout Field Post (a little insurgent). Against the background one can see 1944, and the ruins of the city beyond. The whole side wall of this two-storey- school building had been painted like it was described above.
In the first half of August 1944 in the nearby area fierce uprising battles were being fought in the Ghetto ruins by the Home Army "Radosław" unit soldiers while backing away from the Wola district to the Old Town.
