Drewniana 8 - Powi¶le discrict

The mural was painted in the year 2013 at the area of numer 41 Primary School with Integration classes named after the Home Army soldiers of the "Krybar" group that is situated in Drewniana street number 8, on the wall of the gym, to be precise.
In the central part there is an insription WARSZAWIACY (the Varsovians) against the black background. It is divided by the Fighting Poland anchor, girdled by the white and red band. On the left side one can see a bust of a soldier wearing a helmet , with a rifle on his back. There is also a profile of a woman with one tear on her face. The black background of the artistic composition shows the city walls.
During the Warsaw Uprising 1944 the Home Army group "Krybar" was fighting at this area.
Inside the school building a field hospital used to be situated here during the Warsaw Uprising. After the capitulation of Powi¶le, on the first days of September 1944, the hospital did continue its activity on the area captured by Germans. On September 27 SS-soldiers burs tinto the hospital and murdered all the wounded who had been staying inside. The plaque put on the building wall from the direction of Dobra street informs about that.
