The photo report of the conference entitled "War, occupation, tragedy. Looking at the new perspective" - November 20-21, 2017

          In November 2017 the 1944 Warsaw Uprising Remembrance Association together with Pracownia Historii Dramatu 1864-1939 of the Institute of Polish Literature organised the scientific conference "War, occupation, tragedy. Looking at the new perspective".



          The conference took place on November 20-21, 2017 in the Room named after J. Brudziński in the Kazimierzowski Palace in Warsaw.

          

          The program of the conference consisted of numerous speeches related to Polish literary writers in the perspective of tragic events in the history of Poland.
          On the first day the conference participants were welcomed by Prof. Maria Jolanta Olszewska, the head of Pracownia Historii Dramatu 1864-1939 of the Institute of Polish Literature at the University of Warsaw and Mr. Maciej Białecki PhD., the chairman of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising Remembrance Association.


          Afterwards one could see the performance of the choir of both students and teachers of the 41 Primary school in Warsaw in the 8 Drewniana street.

          

          Particular subjects of lectures related to, among the others, works by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Marian Hemar, Wacław Borowy, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, Tadeusz Gajcy, Anna Świrszczyńska, Karol Wojtyła, Roman Bratny and Tadeusz Różewicz.
          Two combatants, Warsaw insurgents, also participated in the conference. On the first day there was the discussion with Mr. Eugeniusz Tyrajski a.k.a. "Sęk", the soldier of the Home Army regiment "Baszta".


          On the secondo day we could listen to the lecture by Mr. Andrzej Gładkowski a.k.a. "Ostoja", the liaison of the Sanitary Service Chief of the Home Army group "Północ", entitled "Reminiscences of the Warsaw Uprising in the Polish literature".


          Both speeches were very interesting for the listeners.
          As it was stated in the summarizing discussion, the conference was called very successful and appealing.
          The conference was made ready by Prof. Maria Jolanta Olszewska, Karol Samsel PhD. From the Polish Philology Department of the University of Warsaw and Iwona Rusek PhD, the member of the SPPW 1944 management.
